Glossy, Soft & Chewy Jellies Chendol @ MPPP Tapak Penjaja Lebuh Cecil, Penang.

Chendol is commonly sold by the street vendors or food court and also one of the most favourite desserts among the Malaysians. Chendol are served in a cold mixture of coconut milk, brown syrup made from the local gula melaka and shaved ice. It is thirst quencher and lovely dessert for hot and humid days.

I would like to share a delicious soft and chewy jellies Chendol with you. The Chendol Stall has been existed in the MPPP Tapak Penjaja Lebuh Cecil (Food Court) which has been located at Cecil Street, Penang, for many years and not many Penangites or others are aware of this Chendol Stall. Cecil Street is known as '7th Street' to the local.

You have to enter the last side entrance of the MPPP Tapak Penjaja Lebuh Cecil (Food Court) along Lebuh McNair or near the junction of Lebuh McNair and Lebuh Herriot. As you enter into the Food Court, you will notice a Nyonya Kuih Stall and the Chendol Stall is just right behind it.

How do you define a delicious Chendol ??? Well, for me I will look into the texture of the jellies Chendol. I would prefer not to have a lot rice flour the in jellies Chendol. Besides that they must glossy, smooth and chewy.

Popular Yam Rice @ Kedai Kopi & Makanan Wah Hong, Chai Leng Park, Butterworth, Penang. (Non-Halal)

The Yam Rice has been operating at the Single Storey Shop along Lebuh Kurau 1, Chai Leng Park, Prai, Penang for a number of years and it is very popular among the Penangites (esq. office & factory workers) on the mainland during lunch time.

No. 01 : View of the Former Premises which was used to operate Yam Rice, along Lebuh Kurau 1, Chai Leng Park, Prai, Penang.

Lately the operator has to evacuate the Premises because of the tenancy. Therefore, the stall has been moved to Kedai Kopi & Makanan Wah Hong of No. 1, Medan Kurau 3, Chai Leng Park, 13700 Prai, Penang.

The ingredients of Yam Rice's Soup are mostly made up of the Pig Organ (i.e. Liver, Intestines, Stomach and etc).

If you do not wish to eat Pig Organs, you can always request the friendly lady not to include in the yam rice soup and also you can select your own choice of ingredients (i.e. Meat Balls,Lean Pork and/or 3 Layers of Pork (Sum Chan Bak) from the steps.

The taste of the clear Yam Rice's Soup is a bit saltish & sour because of the Chinese Salted Vegetable (Kiam Chai). A lot of Chinese believe when you are taking the soup during a warm day, it will help to cool down the temperature of your body. By adding Chopped Parsely (Yim Sai) to the Yam Rice's Soup, it will help to bring out the vibrant aroma.
